Parent to Parent Program

Instructions and Process
Welcome!
We are so pleased you are interested in becoming a Volunteer Support Parent. We appreciate your time and interest. Just follow the steps listed below to become a Volunteer Support Parent for the Family Voices of Minnesota Parent to Parent Program.
1. Contact the Parent to Parent Program Coordinator to express your interest in becoming a volunteer support parent.
a. Program Coordinator will speak with you to discuss training options.
b. Program Coordinator will provide you with a unique key and web address to begin your online Parent Training.
2. Complete the online Parent to Parent Training.
a. This training will take approximately 3 hours and can be done in modules. It will include online web instruction, short video vignettes, exercises, and quizzes.
b. Once you have successfully completed the online training, you will be contacted again by the Program Coordinator to finalize the process (materials will be sent to you, etc.)
3. Complete required paperwork and send back to Program Coordinator.
a. Complete Support Parent Information Form
b. Sign confidentiality form
Once these final documents are received by the Program Coordinator, you will be added to our database of Trained Volunteer Support Parents. You may receive a match right away, or it may take a while. It all depends on the needs of our referred parents.
Please contact our Program Coordinator at any time to discuss concerns and questions. We are happy to have you as a part of our parent network and we strive to provide you with the support you need to be a helpful volunteer and to be a parent your child with special health care needs as well.
